Energetic volunteers have always been a part of sustaining this historic place in its wilderness setting. The combination of the age of the buildings (between 50 and more than 100 years old) and a dynamic, constantly changing environment means there is always work to do. These are some of the ways in which you* can be a part of sustaining the Camp for the future:
- General volunteers: on-going general work includes trail and seasonal maintenance, such as raking leaves in the fall, re-building paths in and around camp after winter rains erosion, and clearing deadfall in the spring.
- Skilled craft volunteers: there is a constant need for repairs and upgrades to the plumbing and electrical systems, and the structures themselves (carpentry, etc.) If you have these talentsand especially if you are certified in any of the craft tradesand want to help build the Camp for the future, please be in touch with the Manager.
- The Boot Squad is a small group of volunteers qualified to support the Manager in operating the Camp. Participation is by invitation; if you are interested in becoming qualified to serve, please contact the Manager.
*Everyone doing any kind of volunteer work in and around the Camp must be registered in the volunteer log and sign a waiver of liability.
